Normal Day I opted to hang out with and celebrate my kids today. It was a beautiful day and I intended to do it all - mother, celebrate, work, write - a plan that was entirely too optimistic. With a little bit of resistance I surrendered to the joyful reality of my day. This day was all about me focusing on my family, so I am sending you some wisdom that was passed down from my "nana" - a poem that lived on my kitchen counter in a frame my whole life - the author is unknown to me. Prayer For Now Normal day let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, savor you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it will not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taught, or raise my hands to the sky, and want more than the entire world your return. Enjoy every moment that you possibly can and work hard to open your heart.
