Meet Jacklyn, one of our Personal/Multimodality Trainers and our Wellness Pro Spotlight for this month!
First and foremost, Jacklyn loves being a fitness professional. She inspires, guides and supports her clients on their fitness journey - enabling them to achieve their goals. She believes that the biggest hurdle we will ever face on our fitness path is the mental one. The reality is that we aren't all designed to be Instagram fitness influencers or body builders, and that is why she is an advocate for realistic and attainable fitness goals and overall well being.
Her mantra? "Workout because you love your body, not because you hate it."
Namaste: What's your favorite self-care routine?
Jacklyn: I love getting a massage. Thai massage is my favorite! The mix of stretching and myofascial release is life changing for me.
Namaste: How do you unplug and find balance each day?
Jacklyn: I try to end each day with headphones on, my favorite music playing and spending time writing in my 5 Minute Journal.
Namaste: What does 'Namaste' mean to you?
Jacklyn: To me, 'Namaste' means "the divine light in me honors the divine light in you." I love Namaste and the practice of using it. It's the most pure and beautiful sentiment.
Namaste: What's your favorite fitness routine & why?
Jacklyn: I mix up my workout modality often, but the one thing that is consistent is self-myofascial release using a foam roller and/or therapy balls. 95% of the time I utilize this before and after workouts to keep my muscles healthy and working optimally.
Namaste: What's your advice to clients who know they need to start a training routine, but don't know where to start?
Jacklyn: There are two things I would suggest. First, create S.M.A.R.T. goals for yourself. This stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. Doing this will help improve your success rate. My second recommendation is to find a trainer who can help you get started with your fitness journey. A trainer can be utilized in so many ways. They can be as hands on or off as you want from showing you how to use machines in your home or gym, to getting you to your S.M.A.R.T. goals or creating customized training programs that will help you achieve your goals. I swear this is not self promotion! I truly believe in asking for help from someone who knows what they are doing - especially when it comes to wellness and fitness!
