I think my brain has a natural ‘shutdown mode’ when it needs a break - I just flat-out forget things that I should not forget. It’s scary to feel like I am losing my mind - but it’s true - I did actually “lose” something in my mind! During the holidays especially, when we forget to do something, it may be nature’s way of telling us to slow down. Forgetting a conference call, a blog I am supposed to write or the correct pickup time for my child - they all happened. I try to be soft with myself on these occasions. I tell myself that it’s ok to make mistakes sometimes, the same as I tell my children. It’s a great reminder. When something falls off the radar it’s also a reminder to take a breath. Say the mantra “I am enough.” It feels good when you need it. As we go into the weekend and the busy holiday time ahead, please remind yourself that you too are enough.
